The True Church And Its Real Mission
The True Church and its real mission, what is it? This biblical topic is of the utmost importance to all who are seeking the truth because it is truth that will set us free from the bondage of sin. Fulfilling the Great Commission set forth by Yahshua Messiah is a command from our heavenly Father Yahweh. All the believers and doers of His Word must live very faithfully by the Bible message. We must accept the manna from heaven, study it thoroughly, and then digest it. The True Believer is one who lives in all harmony with EVERY WORD that proceeds from the mouth of Almighty Yahweh (Matthew 4:4; Deuteronomy 8:3). A true Christian must have a dedicated determination to put all of the past ideas and doctrines out of his or her mind, study the holy inspired Scriptures anew, and then to faithfully live by what was proven out of the Bible. Yes, real Christians must cleanse their minds so they can truly accept Bible Truth as it is revealed to them, without having to fight against a doctrinal mental block! The Bible forms one complete unit from Genesis to Revelation, and we must harmonize all of its teachings. The Old and New Testaments will agree if we allow the Bible to harmonize! Don’t be deceived by the false church. Today, we’re going to share with you the real mission of the true Church. As always, we’ll let the Bible interpret itself as we humbly ask the Holy Spirit of Yahweh for holy wisdom and guidance. May you have the eyes to see and ears to hear for this true and faithful heavenly message.
The Church’s true commission is stated concisely by the Savior Himself, Yahshua the Messiah. He said: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20). The disciples of Yahshua, as eyewitnesses of His resurrection, were to make new disciples by proclaiming the Good News of the coming Kingdom of Yahweh to all nations. “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel (Good News) to every creature” (Mark 16:15). Yes, the life-changing message they were to proclaim centers on the resurrection of Yahshua, and calls for a total change of behavior on the part of its hearers. “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Messiah to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remissions of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem” (Luke 24:46-47). Yahshua said He would be with His true followers “to the end of the age.” The work of the Church (His genuine peoples) goes on; the commission is the same!
Yes, Yahshua the Messiah gave the Church only one commission, though the one commission involves ministries, or services, that vary. To verily accomplish the commission, Yahweh “gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers” (Ephesians 4:11). The primary job of apostles and evangelists is proclaiming the True Gospel to the world as a witness; pastors and teachers provide instruction and guidance for the assemblies that are formed as a result of the work of the apostles and evangelists. These all differ somewhat in function, but share the common mission of making—start to finish—disciples for the Kingdom of Yahweh! Notice that the commission includes “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.” This is an ongoing job; it doesn’t end with baptism and the laying-on-of-hands. “Making disciples” includes the preaching that initially brings individuals to conversion, as well as the ongoing instruction in sound biblical doctrine and holy faithful living! Yahshua’s three-fold command, “Feed My lambs…Tend My sheep…Feed My sheep,” was given to apostle Peter, but applied to all the other apostles and overseers (John 21:15-17; 1 Peter 5:1-4). “Feed My sheep” is synonymous with “Go therefore and make disciples.” These commands of Yahshua are not 2 distinct commissions, but different ways of speaking of the one commission. The Church commission is the same then as it is now!
Furthermore, Yahshua used the shepherd-sheep analogy in describing His ongoing work of making disciples for the Kingdom of Yahweh. He said, “I am the Good Shepherd; and I know My sheep, and Am known by My own. As the Father (Yahweh) knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one Shepherd” (John 10:14-16). The Church, with its diversity of gifts, is the agency through which the Good Shepherd (Yahshua Messiah) calls to, and feeds, His sheep. It was Yahshua who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare Yahweh’s people for works of service, so that the body of Messiah may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of Elohim and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Messiah. Therefore, we must provide sermons (teachings and preachings) on the Ten Commandments, on the ongoing validity of Yahweh’s Law, on the Sabbath and Holy Days, and on correcting others regarding their false views concerning the Bible’s “Old Testament.”
In closing, learning about the True Church and its real mission in our holy message today “Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of wicked men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into Him who is the Head, that is, Yahshua. From Him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work” (Ephesians 4:11-16). And yes, we must all repent! To have our sins forgiven, we have to know who Yahshua Messiah is and what He accomplished in His early ministry. Therefore, we must provide spiritual truth on the divinity and humanity of Yahshua Messiah, on His sacrificial and redemptive work, on the prophecies concerning Him, and on His sacred example and holy teachings. Yahshua’s commands includes far more than the things He commanded in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21. In fact, Yahshua Messiah had much to say about ethics, morality, holiness, and the like, but relatively little to say about famines and earthquakes and other such disasters. A word study with your concordance will quickly prove this. Yahshua said, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth” (Matthew 28:18). Continue reading Matthew 28:19-20. Have you noticed something? Based on these words of Yahshua, the commission He gives us involves much Bible teaching on a wide range of holy subjects—prophecy included. In other words, the Bible advises us to “Watch therefore, for you (all of us) do not know what hour your Master is coming” (Matthew 24:42). May Almighty Yahweh bless you for reading and sharing this biblical truth. Brethren, let us continue to spread love, hope, faith, mercy and truth to all the people. We humbly ask and pray these things to Eternal Yahweh through Yahshua Messiah our Master, Savior and King, Amen. Halleluyah, Shalom!
