The Truth Why Humans Suffer
Why would our Father in heaven Yahweh create a world of chaos and evil? The truth is that He did not. This is not the world that He intended for us. Almighty Yahweh’s original creation did not contain these sufferings and pains. The world He created was peaceful and beautiful. Food was easy to come by. There was no death. People were intended to have a very close, personal relationship with Him. Yahweh gave us free will. He gave us choices. But what went wrong? In todays message, we are going to share with you the truth why humans suffer. Human suffering is not a pleasant subject to discuss, but a necessary one. Why? Because suffering plagues our world. In its many forms it affects us physically, psychologically and emotionally. Whatever its manifestation, extended suffering can crush our body and spirit. When tragedies happen, people ask why. Whether it happens to us personally, to our loved ones, or to our communities, we have a natural desire to find answers. As always, we’ll ask the Holy Spirit of Yahweh for guidance and wisdom in teaching you this important topic.
We want you to understand that suffering falls on the just and the unjust. It afflicts innocent victims. It appears that our efforts to stop suffering at best only delay the inevitable. And nobody, it seems, has a believable explanation of why so much human misery persists. What is the answer? Why is suffering so indiscriminate? Why isn’t it meted out to only those who deserve it? Why do the innocent suffer from actions and events they have no control over and often cannot foresee? Brilliant thinkers and philosophers have weighed in on the issue for centuries, but they have failed to provide a satisfying rational answer. Those in terrible pain and unspeakable suffering—including many reading this preaching—need answers to their questions. That being said, let’s examine the causes of suffering from a biblical perspective. The Bible is the key source that can help us discover the reasons people suffer. The biblical view of life is real. The Bible explains why pain has always been with us and why it will remain, at least for a time. At the same time the biblical view is also encouraging, especially when we expand our thinking to see life in terms of Yahweh’s plan and His purpose for mankind. When He created all of humanity, He made us in His very own image (Genesis 1:26). In His great love and mercy, He does not forget us or our future. Notice! He said: “For I know the plans I have for you,” says Yahweh. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).
Now you may be asking yourself: “Who, then, causes all the misery and pain and suffering in this world?” Terrible tragedies and situations that cause us suffering come from a very real being who exists only to cause harm to people. The Savior of mankind Yahshua the Messiah spoke of one He called “a murderer from the beginning” and “a liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44). Yahshua identifies the origin of evil and suffering. The suffering you and all people go through comes from a spirit being who first lied, deceived, hated and murdered. He is the enemy of mankind, Satan the devil (1 Peter 5:8). Satan is a real being—a devil spirit presence possessing great power to do harm. Because so many reject the existence of this devil spirit being, he is an unrecognized cause of much suffering. Whether we realize it or not, his deception of humanity is the major cause of anguish and grief. The extent of Satan’s influence and power is clearly revealed in the Bible. Satan “deceives the whole world” (Revelation 12:9). The apostle John also writes in the Bible that “the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one” (1 John 5:19), Satan. The apostle Paul had proclaimed Satan the devil as “the god of this age” who has blinded the minds of many so that they do not believe the gospel (2 Corinthians 4:4). The apostle Paul also refers to this devil Satan as “the prince of the power of the air” who now works in all the sons of disobedience (Ephesians 2:2).
Furthermore, Satan the devil is also called “the tempter” (Matthew 4:3). Throughout history he has succeeded in tempting people to indulge in an unlawful and immoral exercise of their physical appetites (abuse of drugs, alcohol and tobacco; premarital sex; greed for money and material wealth; promiscous sex life, body piercings and tattoos; greed of food and fame; self-righteous and selfish, instead of seeking Almighty Yahweh’s Kingdom and all of His righteousness). Satan the devil is also the agitator of war and other conflicts. Satan and his demons will instigate a time of global distress with uspeakable human suffering that will be far more terrible than any devastation human beings have ever experienced (Matthew 24:21-22). In fact, at the end of the age, demonic spirits will “go out to the kings of the earth” to gather them to the battle of that great day of Yahweh Almighty (Revelation 16:14). Yes, Satan the devil has blinded humanity to the reason for our existence. He has deceived people into believing that his way—the way of selfishness and sin—is better than obedience to Yahweh’s commands. Satan’s attitude of selfishness and anger has influenced people throughout time. Because he truly hates Yahweh, he does what he can to make Yahweh’s children (that’s all of you and us) suffer. Regrettably, most of humanity has fallen prey to Satan’s ploys, not realizing the ultimate grief, pain and suffering that sin brings. It’s very clear that we can see from these biblical passages that Satan the devil exerts pervasive power over mankind. He is so cunningly relentless!
Our Father in heaven Yahweh has often tried to impress on man the crucial principle that every effect has a cause. But most peoples have difficulty grasping this truth, so they continue to suffer the debilitating effects of their transgressions. We can trace many tragedies and much suffering to our own all-too-human actions and decisions. In a world of freedom and choice, some choices inevitably lead to harmful and painful results. Actions yield consequences. Many people recognize the saying “You reap what you sow,” but they do not realize that it comes from the Bible (Galatians 6:6-7; Proverbs 22:8). When we analyze the phenomenon of suffering, we can learn much if we will trace the circumstances back to their cause. The Bible warns us to consider the long-term consequences of our actions: “A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself, but the simple pass on and are punished” (Proverbs 22:3). When we look for the main causes of suffering, we often need look no further than ourselves—the decisions and actions of individuals and humanity as a whole. In one way or another sin is usually the underlying cause, and suffering is the effect. Don’t ever think of yourself as a sinless person, and that you don’t ever deserve to suffer, because you’re lying to Yahweh and yourself! Bible clearly says that we are all sinners: “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of Yahweh” (Romans 3:23). How plainly the Bible said that fact!
In closing, the conclusion should be obvious. Much suffering is caused by wrong choices in life. The Bible offers guidance as to how we should live. Yet as far back as Adam and Eve (who first disobeyed Yahweh’s command at the Garden of Eden) we also have repeatedly spurned all of Yahweh’s instructions and brought enormous pain and sorrow on ourselves. The Bible offers practical advice on virtually all aspects of life. Many of its principles reveal how to avoid—and to some extent relieve—human suffering. Truth is, we all cannot live substantially free from suffering until we are reconciled to our Heavenly Father Yahweh and His spiritual commandments! He specifically instructs us to do this for all time and for all generations: “My son do not forget My law, but let your heart keep My commands; for length of days and long life and peace they will add to you” (Proverbs 3:1-2). Were we follow Almighty Yahweh’s instruction on an individual and national scale, we would see very immediate and drastic reductions in crime, disease, hostilities between nations, pollution, hunger, poverty, accidents, mental illness, broken families, shattered relationships, fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, snowstorms, heat waves, avalanche, tsunamis, typhoons, droughts, famines, earthquakes and many other natural and unnatural phenomena that cause us so much grief and suffering in life. Remember, Yahweh’s law is not harsh or onerously restrictive by any means! It is a law of liberty (James 1:25) that would eliminate most of the world’s pain if it were universally obeyed! Therefore, let us all repent of our sin individually and as nation and begin to obey Yahweh’s spiritual law (Ten Commandments) and believe and accept His promise of eternal life through His Begotten Son, Yahshua the Messiah! “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of Yahweh is eternal life in Messiah Yahshua our Master” (Romans 6:23). We hope that you’re blessed upon reading and learning this true and faithful message of the truth why humans suffer. Peace and love to all, especially to our brethren in faith. May the Eternal Father in heaven Yahweh keep you in His watch and on His ever-loving heart. All of these we fervently ask and humbly pray in the saving, precious name of Yahshua, Amen. Shalom, Halleluyah!
